This event is organized and hosted by Riga City Council on the margins of the IPCC Scoping Meeting for the Special Report on Climate Change and Cities taking place in Riga, Latvia, from 16 to 19 April 2024. The event will give a brief overview of the IPCC, its role and activities and upcoming programme of work. IPCC speakers will present key messages from IPCC’s Synthesis Report, in relation to the challenges of climate change and solutions and strategies for cities. During the three-hour event, experts will put a special focus on city greening with insights from IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report as well as how to mitigate climate change through wooden buildings and new architecture and how Riga City Council is implementing its city greening plan. Presentations will be followed by short Q&A segments.
