The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body tasked with assessing the science related to climate change. The IPCC provides the science that underpins climate policies and climate action.
The Spanish Climate Change Office, with the support and participation of the IPCC TFI Bureau members and the IPCC Secretariat, are hosting an outreach event at Bizkaia Aretoa on 27 March from 9 am to 11 am. This event follows the First Lead Author Meeting for the Methodology Report on Short-lived Climate Forcers, held by the IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI), from 24 to 26 March in Bilbao, Spain.
During this outreach event, Elena Pita Dominguez, the General Director of the Spanish Climate Change Office, will share a video message discussing the role of the IPCC as a science-policy interface. Sophie Szopa, IPCC Coordinating Lead Author on Working Group I Sixth Assessment Report and Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, will explain the latest IPCC findings relevant to the region. The Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (TFI) Co-Chairs Takeshi Enoki and Mazhar Hayat will introduce the TFI and its work as well as provide an overview of the Methodology Report on SLCF. The IPCC Secretariat will share information on the IPCC, its mandate, the work plan for the seventh cycle, and how to engage in the IPCC process.
This event is open to the public. Register here: communication@bc3research.org
